Some news on Guantanamo Bay

This was, is and looks like it will continue to be, completely wrong and especially so for a country which is supposedly the the most democratic place on the planet.
I say supposedly, as most intelligent human beings, realise that it is not a Democracy in the true sense of the word and, come to think of it, neither is the UK, as we get fed information on a need to know basis.

For example, Menwith Hill which I have mentioned before, is to figure further in the "Star Wars" "defense" system.
Can you imagine the huge outcry if we wanted to build something similar in the US? Instead, what do we get? Immunity from planning regs, thats what we get.
So, whilst the Government and councils baulk at the idea of allowing electric generating windmills to be put up, we are subjected to more and more "Golf Balls" at the American base.

Of course, if you moan about this, you are labelled anti-US or worse, a terrorist which is, of course, absolute nonsense, you are simply excersing your right to free speech.

Except, of course, we don't have true free speech. We have if comments relate to some subjects - shall we have new roads, more schools, etc, etc - but not others - why is Menwith Hill here, why is it so secret, why have we surrendered all UK rights?

Hey, I'm just a man in the street, what does my view mean?

I have a good number of American friends and I like them all enormously. However, I can't help but think they have all been brain washed, in a sense, about certain aspects of life or maybe I just get to meet a certain type? Whatever - Yikes! Now I sound like one.

Coulthard dropped by McLaren for 2005

Well now, this is bad news indeed. Not because I like DC, more that Ron has now employed someone who can give the boys in red a run for their money, i.e. Montoya. We shall see, I still think the red cars will be the class of the field as long as the "Dream Team" stays.

Well, what do you know, they have found him.

About bloody time, but they have at last found the guy who shot PC Broadhurst.
Now lets see what punishment our system meters out to him.

Ok, I'm back!

Well now, at last, the blogging frog is back! Boy, have I had some fun with my PC recently!
Anyway, enough of all that, how are you all? Had a good Christmas I trust? Hope so, I did.

One of my New Year resolutions is to get this site organised into what I would really like it to be. The problem up to press is that I haven't known what that might be!! However, I have some new ideas that I may actually carry through this time!
Oh, by the way, thats another resolution - carry things through!

So, where to start? Much has happened in the world in only the two weeks while I have been offline - such is the pace of modern life.
Somethings don't change, however, like the daily crap we get served up from Washington and Whitehall.
I thought I would have a round up of the events of 2003 though, rather than solely have a pop at the politicians.
You will notice, I'm sure, that much of the round up is political anyway!!
Anyway, hope you enjoy and have a peacuful and prosperous New Year.
Happy Blogging!

Update! - I couldn't resist having a pop at a few things - review still to come!!

So, so righteous America.

Read this fantastic piece by Arthur Sibler - it hits the spot for me and proves why we should fear the US more than anyone else.

Thanks to Manic for the heads up.
So you think you had a bad Christmas?

This disaster is just horrendous, no matter what colour, creed or religion you are.
Lets hope the survivors are given help to pick up the pieces and rebuild their lives.

Do we need to re focus our resources chaps?

posted by Blogman on 30/12/2003 at 09:00 GMT

Read this about speeding and then this which relates to inner city crime and tell me, no, tell PC Ian Broadhursts widow, why we are not sorting out our inner city problems? We seem to be able to devote resources and time and effort and legislation to catching speeding motorists, yet we seem to tolerate all sorts off crime, including more and more gun related incidents -

why?

Ah, the age old problem - professional ethics versus the corporate view!

Some doctors, apparently, are not happy that they will be unable to treat some patients who have come to Britain, merely to receive free treatment when they are not entitled to it.

After me chaps - No - thats right, good Doctor Smith, try again, altogether - No!

Ok, see you next week for the next class, ok?

Move to combat term-time holidays

posted by Blogman on 30/12/2003 at 09:00 GMT

Politicians are now sticking their noses into the subject of parents taking children out of school for holidays.

You know, I could be wrong but if the travel companies would stop hiking the prices up during school holidays, maybe they would!

Hi everybody!!!!!!

Ah - the air - the light - the freedom!!!!!!!!!

I'm back!!

I have had some serious problems with my PC but now I'm ok and raring to go.

I am, however, away from 26 December until 29th, so my blogging re-birth (yuk!) will have to wait until then.

Boy, is there a lot to say!!

Merry Christmas to all who visit me and thanks for bearing with me.

Bloggy.
