Dood Morning One And All
posted by Bloggy on 18/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Well, I am feeling quite philosophical about life at the moment. Dunno why, I guess it goes in cycles, up, down, up, down, up...............ooer, sorry, just realised this looks a bit rude now!
My mind is focused on a couple of things right now.

1. The London Marathon. Well, you try thinking about that. 3 weeks ago, I was not running, hadn't even thought about it. Now, I am 2 1/2 weeks into training. It gets harder, once the initial euphoria has gone. Once the pain sets in. Once you realise, that you have to go out tonight and run, even though you just want to watch TV and have a beer.
What keep sme going?
This. I look here, for inspiration.
You see, I have chosen to put myself through a gruelling training regime to run this marathon.
The kids afflicted, have not made a choice. They have just been dealt a bad hand in life.
So, when I am out running, hurting, wondering what the hell I am doing this for, I think of the kids. I really do. And, you know what?
Then I feel quite embarassed that I am whinging to myself about a bit of discomfort.

Pledge anyone?

2. Starting on my own. I have wanted to work for myself, at home, mainly, for some time. I now have the beginnings of an idea to do just that.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not ready yet. But, one day, soon, I will be. Then I can tell you all about it.

In the meantime, fear not frequent visitors, I have not forgotten my ranting side, just not in the right frame of mind, just now. I'll be back though!

Meantime, anyone like a copy of the bands first ever video? It's not bad. I will only charge the cost of a CD and P&P, hows that? Say, a quid? Anyone interested? NO? Sheesh, do you know how much time I put int..............................oh, sorry, I just get carried away sometimes!

Book on Blair?

I am thinking of running a book on Blair. How long will he last. You think it will be popular?
Unlike that smug, arrogant git?
Comments please.

Hmm, that worked well!!

Hey, I had a lot of fun over the weekend with the Movie Maker which is built into Windows XP. I made a video of one of the tracks on the bands CD and it has come out very well.
It's not often I will thank Microsoft for anything (bringing Windows into the world is a prime example - I hate it!!) but in this case

Thanks Bill!

Course, I loathe him and them for everything else they do/have done. So it's not quite all good news!

Lots to blog.

Monday, Monday
posted by Bloggy on 17/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Well, Monday was indeed a mixed day for me. Went to Newcastle for a couple of meetings which went very well. Spoke to a few people on the way back about that problem and it seems our District have now started putting the boot into our group.
You know, life would be so much easier, if people left us alone to get on with what we (used to?) love.

You guys out there as sick of this story as me?

Scout Update
posted by Bloggy on 16/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Person has resigned from our group but offered positions in other groups in District by our Distrist Commissioner, so I am told.
I am angry about all this beyond words (trust me, I am ) but have decided to carry on, as only the boys would suffer more if I did not.
Also, I will have no further involvement with District and any events they put on, other than those essential ones.

Call me childish if you like, but I feel very let down by a number of people over this, NOT including my colleagues in our particular group.
Watch this space though, the SH1 may not yet have stopped.

Sometimes, I know I am typing the word correctly but it comes out wrong. I wonder if you can drift into dislekca (yes, I know it's wrong!) as you get older?

this is the wrong place to ask for money
OR

Support is at hand!.
posted by Bloggy on 12/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Well, I am quite surprised (but very pleased) to have received two e-mails yesterday, in connection with this weblog.
First of all, the very nice young lady over here, sent me a "chin up chicken" note. (do chickens have chins, I wonder?). Anyway, it was very nice to get an uplifting note and put a smile on my face, so thanks Claire. Oh, and I have fixed the comment problem, so please feel free to, er..., comment?
Then, later in the day, I received an e-mail from a young man called Adam, which went like this:-

"Hello,Big fan and regular reader - thought you might like to blog this:

www.musicalmystery.com

Hope you like it and if you know the answer to question 5, let me know!
Cheers Adam"

So, here is the link (or there it was, up there!) and many thanks to Adam for the note and the link. Have a look, it's not real easy but then again, it's not rocket science but it's fun. And we need more fun.
It's Palindrome, by the way!

My World Today.
posted by Bloggy on 11/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Wednesday already and another week slips gently by. With so much to do in this mad world we live in, it's easy to lose track of time.
For example, is it really a week since I upset the world by asking a question? I guess it's a bit like asking Alex Ferguson a question off his script, he throws a wobbler, like my "colleague" did.

Marathon training is going well, though the links I put up to my training schedule and sponsorship moneydon't work but my link to my - DONATION FORM - does - * ahem*.

Sometimes I feel very lonely out here in Cyber blogland, sometimes I feel part of something which can and does change things. Today? Isolation.
I feel like the new kid on the block (which I'm not!) who everyone nods at but no one speaks to. The one whose work isn't quite as good as everyone else's.
Not sure why though.
I think maybe the problem is, I don't have sufficient time to all of the things I am doing, so I end up being so so at them all.
Ho hum, must get on now, get ready for another fun day at the office. 24 miles to sit at a desk and do paperwork and then come back 24 miles. Filling the atmosphere with yet more pointless crap. Congesting the roads. Oh, and spending money to do so.
When you think that one through, it's kinda stupid isn't it?
These days, with phone, fax, mobiles, e-mails, texts, everyone still has to go to a specific place to deal with the paper and problems associated with their work.
Congesting the roads, cursing public transport, trains, other commuters. It is plain daft. So why do we carry on doing it? Control, thats why. People in charge like to view their kingdom, keep there slaves in sight and in check. Sod the fact that if people worked at home, they would get more done, if only because they would save travelling time!
I am quite down, I think. Cheers.

London Marathon Launch!
posted by Bloggy on 9/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Ok, welcome one and all. Today is the day when I make a request for your support. Your support by way of donations. I am running in the London Marathon and am raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust. So, come on, dig deep and check out the links on the right for a donation form. You know it makes sense!.

Thanks!

If you are doing it too, drop me a note and let me know how the training is going. Mine is going great, I had several pints last night and the night before!!

Oh, and the training links and sponsor summary links, seem to be sleeping peacefully this morning and no amount of kicking can get them out of bed. I don't have time this morning to sort them out but boy, are they in for a rough time tonight!

Trust me. It's hard work!

Further Update on scouting problem.
posted by Bloggy on 5/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Now I hear that the individual has resigned (hurrah!) and that had it been a work environment, I would have been hauled in front of a tribunal. One has to ask, er, why? On what grounds can asking if someone ever has a problem with something be something to put in front of a tribunal? Geez, some people. I am sick and tired of political correctness. It rules the fucking planet and it drives me absolutely insane.

I guess we ought to complain that snow is referred to as "that white stuff", as it's offensive to white people? NO, NO, NO, a thousand times NO!! Snow is white.Period.Coal is black.Period. If someone has black skin, there skin is black.Period. If someone is white, they have white skin.Period. If you want to cause problems, then start looking into semantics and words and, bang, you will have a problem.

We should never, ever, use the colour of someones skin to boffensive towards them but I think we have really gone too far.

Remember the other day, I mentioned that I was doing the London Marathon? (Incidentally, with exception of "Claire the cute one", no one has offered sponsorship yet, so come on chaps, this is for "Teenage Cancer Trust" and involves me running an awful lot longer than 26 in training!).
Well, the other day I bought some new running shoes, as my old ones were, well, frankly, old! The guy in the shop was telling us that the shop assistants are not allowed to go out of the shop, chasing shoplifters. The reason? They are not insured. Equally, they are not allowed to accost the shoplifter in the shop. Result? I'll take these and leg it. If I make it past the scope of the CCTV, I'm home and dry.

When oh when will we wake up as a country and sort out this mess we call Britain? Am I alone in my absolute depression over things like this? I equally think the equal rights has gone too far but hey, I can't say so because it's probably politically incorrect. Do I care? No. Will someone else care about my views? Definitely. Will I get arrested for having such views? It happens, trust me, it happens.

Free speech? Do me a favour and stop insulting my intelligence.

Rant finished.

Update on scouting problem.
posted by Bloggy on 5/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Well, true to form, when I tried to resolve a problem last night, the 3rd party concerned threw a wobbler and went crying to our group kleader.

My crime?

I had heard from several sources that the person had a problem with something I was planning. Never one to ponder, I therefore asked outright to aforementioned person what the problem was.
The response?
The individual turned and walked away and said they were sick of this back stabbing.

Now thats what you call a grown up attitude - NOT.

I hate office politics and will not tolerate them at all. If someone has something to say to me, lets have a grown up discussion about it.

Now, of course, this other person thinks I'm some kind of homicidal maniac. Do I care? Naaaaaaaaa.!

Boing, boing, boing!

Wow! I bought a new pair of running shoes yesterday and they are fab! I was going to rest yesterday but couldn't resist going out for a run! My time was an incredible 4 minutes quicker over a short route because of the new trainers - yeeehaaaa!!

This means:-

  • My old shoes were really crap
    OR
  • I am easily fooled by footware.

Spandex shorts may follow.........................
Watch out for an on-line sponsor form shortly.

Actually, I am most surprised that there are not lots of such forms already floating around on the Internet.

UPDATE. Nope, I have looked around and all I can see are crappy American forms. Looks like I will have to build one myself.Sigh.

Misc stuff, rushed, as I have little time today.
posted by Bloggy on 4/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Ok, very pushed for time this morning, so here are a few bits done quickly.

New enquiry scope not wide enough, need to involve political reasons and decisions, otherwise, it will end up being bollocks.

Very wet up here. My work town of York may flood today, river Ouse very high.

Need revised law and order policies.

Need to sort out judicial system

Transport integration is shit (see Manic's site for train stuff)

Ok, sorry, got to go to work now. Tune in tomorrow folks - oh, one last thing. Lots of politics going on in our scout group, gonna sort that out tonight!

Marathon Training
posted by Bloggy on 4/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Well, the preperation for the Flora London Marathon is going ok at the moment. I have yet to do a "long" run but I have been out a few times now and it's getting easier as I find my running rhythm. Still not a sausage on the sponsorship front though. I must do a special page on here to encourage people to dig deep. That's if anyone still reads this of course. Well, does anyone?

He he, I just went to Claire's blog and followed the link to the Worthing Liberal Democrats and guess what? I found a picture of our new friend Claire Potter.
And, guess what? Putting all political correctness aside, completely and utterly, I have to say she's a bit of a cutey!

Ok, ok, ok, I know thats not what she does all this for but I was just saying, all right?

It's always surprising when you have a mental picture of someone and then you meet them or see a picture of them. It's always completely different! Anyway, nuff said, wifey is calling me............

Uh?
posted by Bloggy on 3/2/2004 at 07:00 GMT

Well M'Lud, it's like this you see. I cannot pay the possible fine and as I didn't mean any harm by stealing those 342 items, on 45 seperate occasions, can you let me off, eh? Please? Please

Ok, ok, I know it was only the one offence on this occasion but you see my point, right?

Now, I am what I would class a Liberal. Definitely. Absolutely. Most of the time.

BUT when it comes to law and order, I must confess to being somewhat right of Attilla the HUn.

See, it really, really, really pisses me off, that criminals in this country get let off so much. Oh, he didn't mean it your honour, he was under stress M'Lud. Bollocks! I am under constant stress, yet do I go out doing burglaries, muggings, nicking cars, vandalsing, etc? No I bloody well don't.

So, whats the answer? A better police force, thats what. Unshackled by Political correctness crap. The day teachers and bobbies were stopped clipping ears, was the beginning of the end.

They should get a warning after first crime. If they commit another one, they should be castrated. That way they can't breed any more scum.

Sorry but thats how I feel.

Spin ahead chaps, stand by to board.

I can't believe another week has gone by. This year seems quicker than last year which itself seemed to pass by so fast.
So, I am settling into training for the London Marathon which I have agreed to do. I have never done one before, although I did do a couple of half marathons a few years ago.
To be honest, it is still a couple of months away and so it hasn't sunk in yet.
I notice Alistair Campbell is doing it as well - do you think he may get knobbled on the way round by some of the runners? He he, I hope so!
I'm sure that I will be keeping you updated with my progress as the big day draws close and, of course, anyone who wishes to sponsor me in my attempt, is more than welcome to do so by contacting me.
