Meet Lynn, who looks after the Webring "Blogging Brits" together with a couple of other ones.
This is what she says about her webring activities:-
I started blogging in November 2001. I didn't really get into the blog scene
much until about 3 months later. I joined Blogsnob
(http://blogsnob.simpleads.net/) first and through that I noticed that there
were webrings for bloggers.
The first ring I ever joined was the now (sadly)
defunct webloggers ring run by Jisnu. By searching Ringsurf.com I noticed
that there were lots of blog rings for Americans, people who blog in
different states of America, Blogs by women, on and on ad infinitum but only
two for UK bloggers and both were abandoned. I'd got friendly with a few
British bloggers online and I told them I thought about a starting up a ring
specifically for Brits and they were enthusiastic. Two in particular, Gert
of madmusingsof.me.uk and Paul of (now closed) P.739 went the extra mile at
spreading the news for me. So Blogging Brits was born in March 2002.
I took on Euroblogs when I noticed that the owner was saying that it was
taking up too much of her time and she needed someone to take it over. That
was in September 2003. Well I was already running one webring quite happily
so I didn't think another one would be too much work. I took over Blog
Philes in November 2003 when I saw that the owner was selling it off. So I
bought the domains off her and took over that one too.
I think I'm just a ring-aholic now. I find it enjoyable and it feeds my
inner OCD :)
So, now you know!
And here are her responses:-
1. Who are you?
My name is Lynn and I currently ring three webrings specifically for the
Blogging community:
I have a blog too, obviously which is BC&O
2. Do you have any nicknames?
Yes. I'm known as Moi over at BC&O
3. Parents' names?
Muriel and Josiah. People just don't name their kids like that anymore do
they..thank goodness!
4. Number of candles that appeared on your last birthday cake?
Now you should never ask a lady her age. Then again I'm no lady so I can
tell you honestly. 21. Been like that for the past 21 years...
5. Date that you regularly blow them out?
Blimey that's a lot of candles and I don't think I've got that much puff
in me..erm, so to speak
6. Marital Status?
yes indeed. I've got one. I've had one for 15 years now without a single
itch. We both know who wears the trousers and who wears the frilly aprons in
this house. Actually frilly aprons suit him a treat but I won't let him wear
them outside the house.
7. Pets?
Apart from the husband you mean? I have three dogs; two Yorkies and a
Jack Russell terrier. I tell you these little dogs of mine are convinced
they're actually wolves in hamsters' bodies. I don't know if they have it in
them to rip a man to shreds but they have a real good go at a squeaky toy
from time to time.
8. Eye colour?
Brown although I wish they were green. I'm sure I'd look more enigmatic with
green eyes
9. Hair colour?
Very dark brown. I have noticed a few anarchic grey amongst them. They seem
to have the tensile strength of fuse wire and insist on sticking out of my
head at a 90 degree angle. I think they aspire to looking like that strange
white streak on the Bride of Frankenstein. I could get upset about it but I
don't. I've so few of them at the moment that I can rip them out without
looking like I suffer from alopecia. Give me a few more years and I might
have to consider getting my hair colour out of a bottle.
10. Piercing?
Several; primarily in my ears and one in my nose.
11. Tattoos?
One of those too. A daisy sits on my right wrist just above the back of
my hand. I'm plucking up the courage to have another one next birthday. I
have to psyche myself to do that because they hurt!
12. What was you previous job?
Previous to what? Erm...well I've done office work as well as nursing and
midwifery. Up until fairly recently though I've been primary carer to hubbie
who has MS. He's been quite well for a while now so I went back to work
about 13 months ago.
13. Favourite colour(s)?
As long as they are muted I'm quite partial most colours. I'm not too
keen on anything vibrant or pastel though. Vibrant seems over the top and
pastel seems washed out.
14. Home town(s)?
I was born in one of the Five Towns made famous by Arnold Bennet
15. Current residence?
After being a rolling stone for about 15 years I came back to my home
town and have been here for 12 years. I'd rather like a small croft
somewhere in Scotland with a bit of land where I could keep chickens (just
for their eggs, I don't eat meat) and grow my own vegetables but that's a
bit of a pipe dream. I suspect I'll stay here for quite a long time.
16. Favourite food?
Bread. Oh and Potatoes. But not necessarily at the same time. Unless it's
a chip butty of course :)
17. Where in the world have you been to?
Holland, Germany, Austria, Portugal and the USA.
18. Do you prefer to give or receive?
Yes
19. Ever loved somebody so much made you cry?
Yes.
20. Ever been in a car accident?
No. Never been in any kind of serious accident really.
21. Favourite piece of furniture?
My bed. It's huge (my husband is over 6 foot tall so we've always had a
large bed so that he can spread out comfortably), is beautiful carved wood
and it has a very deep mattress. Sometimes I wish I didn't ever have to get
out of it!
22. Tea or Coffee?
Tea! By the gallon. Especially if it's Twinning's Organic English
Breakfast Blend. No sugar and just a splash of milk to colour it.
23. Favourite movie?
Oh there are just far too many for me to be able to pick one. I'm quite
fond of period dramas though if I have to pick a particular category.
24. Last movie you saw?
If you mean seeing one at a cinema then it's The League Of Extraordinary
Gentlemen (http://www.apple.com/trailers/fox/lxg/) We went to see it as part
of a birthday treat for Son #2. Very good film actually; which was a
pleasant surprise. Not quite what I anticipated.
25. Favourite day of the week?
Saturday! I always have an extra long lie in bed on a Saturday and the
pace definitely slows down for the whole family.
26. Favourite word or phrase?
You mean the one I use the most? Blimey...I say it all the time.
27. Favourite toothpaste?
Sensodyne gel. I have very sensitive teeth so find it helps. It tastes a
bit strange though and the gel form is about the most palatable of all the
kinds that are manufactured.
28. Favourite Restaurant?
I don't have one; I live in a very provincial city and the only decent
vegetarian restaurant closed down about 2 years ago. There's a rather nice
Chinese/Cantonese restaurant locally that does some vegetarian dishes but I
don't go to it exclusively.
29. Favourite Flowers?
Bluebells closely followed by Daisies. I used to go Bluebell picking with
my grandmother when I was a very wee girl. Those were the days when they
weren't a protected species of course. My grandmother used to live very
close to a farm and some fields. She would take me on long walks and we'd
come home with armfuls of wild flowers that she put into cleaned jam jars.
They were then proudly displayed on her kitchen window-sill. When ever we
drive through banks of Bluebells I'm always reminded of her.
30. Favourite Drink?
Believe it or not it's tea. Followed closely by Pellegrino bottled water.
I don't really do the alcohol thing much. It's a throw back from being a
Mormon for 16 years in my youth :)
31. Favourite Sport to watch?
I haven't got one. Honest.
32. Favourite type of ice cream?
Real vanilla with the black seeds in it. Yummy.
33. Favourite sesame street character?
Oscar the Grouch. I think he's so misunderstood.
34. Disney or Warner Bros?
I'd rather have Tim Burton :)
35. Favourite Fast Food Restaurant?
None. They don't do any vegetarian food that is even vaguely edible.
36. When was your last hospital visit?
Two years ago. It's when I got my FibroMyalgia diagnosis
38. How many times did you fail your driving test?
I've never taken a driving test. I don't do the driving thing. It's too
scary out there on the road for me to feel comfortable about driving.
39. What is your earliest memory?
Standing in the back of my grandmother's black Morris Minor car and
screaming "Moo Cows Nana!" as we passed some grazing cows in a field
40. Do you have a criminal record?
No
41. In which single store would you choose to max out your credit cards?
Debenhams. I can find plenty to buy in there.
42. What do you do most often when you are bored?
I'm never bored. I don't have the time to get bored! What's bored?
43. Name the person that you are friends with who lives the furthest?
Susan over at Illusive Life (http://www.illusivelife.com/). I've known
her for 5 years online. She lives in Minnesota and I'm in the UK so that's a
bit far to call her up and invite her over for tea and cake, more's the pity
:(
44. What is your most embarrassing moment?
How much web host space have you got to fill? My life is full of
embarrassing moments. I think I'm one of the world's walking disaster areas.
I'm not joking. Check out my blog; it's full of some of the more recent
ones!
45. What do you find most offensive?
Deceit. I can't stand lies. I think most of the world's troubles would be
wiped out if people were just more honest with one another.
46. Which Person (Living or Dead) would you like to spend an evening in the
company of?
Well to be honest, I'd love to have my grandmother back for a while. Just
so I could tell her how much I've missed her these past 6 years since she
passed on. If it has to be someone who I've never met before then it would
have to be Jesus bar Joseph; the man who became known as The Christ. I'd
love to find out just exactly what his original message was. I think it's
become awfully corrupted in the 2000 years since his birth. It would be
great to hear the words from the man himself.
47. What is your most cherished possession?
It's a medium sized pebble that's in the shape of a heart. My youngest
son found it on a beach when he was five years old and we were on holiday.
We'd gone out hunting for sea shells and he came across it during our
search. It's quite smooth and has the prettiest striations on it. After he'd
shown it to everyone, he immediately presented it to me as a token of how
much he loves me. I keep it on a shelf above the chair where I normally sit.
48. Best holiday?
The ones when the children were small and we took holidays in Aberystwyth
in Wales. We went back to the same sea-side bungalow year after year. Wales
has some wonderful landmarks, beautiful scenery and the nicest beaches. It's
great for families with small children.
49. Where in the World would you most like to visit?
I would quite like to go and visit Susan in Minnesota :)
50. Why are we here?
42
Many thanks for these answers Lynn, now, who's next?
