Continuing The Rant!!!!!!!! posted by Blogman on 30/10/2003 at 07:30 GMT

Fresh from his debut on 27 October, my good friend sent me some more rants, this time about our Police Force and the high standards they strive to achieve - I think!

This is an extract from an e-mail he sent me this morning:

"I agree that we should strictly enforce our laws, but what chance do we have when;-

a) The Police Force consists of all the dimwits who couldn't hack it at school - mainly the bully boys - we all remember them and they always joined the army or the police - right?

b) The Police Force is afraid to tackle anybody of ethnic origin - so the fact that they are responsible for 75% of the crime means that 75% goes unpunished! It's a fact that there are pubs in Leeds and Bradford that the police are afraid to go into!

c) The goverment is forcing masses of administration onto a Police Force that has difficulty reading the forms ( see point a) ) and who find themselves deskbound instead of getting outside and fighting crime!

d) The Police force seem to score points by prosecuting as many drivers as possible for speeding and other petty offences, but if you have your car stolen they couldn't give a fuck - they won't even send anyone to investigate, they just give you a crime number for your insurer - madness!

So, for me, the first step is to start the long road of attracting more inteligent people into the police force - this is vital in areas such as fruad and murder cases when you are up against some evil and devious minds - and that's just the accountants and lawyers!

You can still keep some no-brains to sort out the piss-heads falling out of the pubs and clubs on a friday night!

You also need a change in the attitude of society in terms of what they will tolerate - and we have to stop tollerating some simple things that get on my tits - such as;-

  • Spitting on pavements and roads - Illegal in most Asian countries with big fines!
  • Spitting out chewing gum - 20 lashes in Singapore!,
  • Throwing tab ends out of car windows - mainly truck drivers! - actually, I am sure it is already illegal but does anyone care?
  • Grafitti
  • Loutish behavior
  • Begging - that really pisses me off!
  • The sale of government buildings by the Inland Revenue to a private company based in a tax haven - how did that get in my list?
Anyway, you get the picture!

I'll get my blues/rock head on and come up with something for The Growlers- can't have you guys doing angry rap stuff!

Cheers

And with that, he was gone for another day. Great ranting though!!!!!!!

Dunno who he is but it looks fun! posted by Blogman on 30/10/2003 at 07:15 GMT

A Kindred Spirit! posted by Blogman on 28/10/2003 at 12:05 GMT

I have been exchanging e-mails with a very good friend of mine and you know what? I found out he is a closet Blogger!!

What I mean is, he shares the views of many of the Blogging sites I have been reading recently but has no time to do his own .

For example, this is an extract from an e-mail he sent me this morning:

"Yep it's all yours Mr Blogman - Glad you like it - there's plenty more where that came from!

Not just Bush and Blair ( I suggested he didn't like either of them!), although they get on my tits more than most because they pretend to be "God fearing do gooders" when the reality is that they abuse their power just as much as the likes of Saddam, Gaddafi and Sharon!

Amearican globalisation is actually quite frightening because the great unwashed just don't realise what is happening to them - they think that Coca Cola, Pepsi, MacDonalds, KFC et all are harmless! I can see it where I am now in China - the local KFC is packed out whilst the Traditional Chinese Fast Food Restuarant ( if that is not a contradiction?) is empty! They just don't realise that in 20 years from now their whole way of life will be changed - Wallmart, Carrefour ( French I know!) are already here in a big way! This hotel I am staying in is full of American businessmen trying to sell their wares here in Tianjin! I want to throw up just listening to all their gung-ho bullshit!

Remember Maggie talking about "competition" and "market forces" - now in the UK all we have are privatised monopolies - the most ludicrous example of which is water - how the fuck can you privatise water?

Yes - it fucking annoys me, but hey I'm not saying communism is the answer - we are talking about humans here and there are lot of good men who have sacfriced their lives trying to get a better deal for people who couldn't give a fuck and don't even appreciate it! "

God bless him, is what I say!

He also sent me a song he has written for his son! It goes like this, 1, 2, 1 2 3 4......

"Pretty basic stuff and aimed at the "yoof" of today! The riff is very heavy sort of Paparoach type stuff and the lyrics are sung in an aggressive rap style! Not very subtle, but straight from the heart!

WHAT A SHIT WORLD WE LIVE IN TODAY
IT'S FULL OF ARSEHOLES WITH NOTHING TO SAY
WHETHER YOU'RE STRAIGHT OR WHETHER YOU'RE GAY
YOU'RE ABOUT TO GET FUCKED BY THE USA

WHAT CAN WE SAY? WHAT CAN WE DO?
GLOBALISATION IS HERE TO FUCK YOU
THEY SAY THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO VOTE
BUT IF YOU COMPLAIN THEY'LL SLIT YOUR THROAT!

WHY THE FUCK DID THEY INVADE IRAQ?
WAS IT DEFENCE OR WAS IT ATTACK?
WHAT RIGHT DO THEY HAVE TO TAKE THEIR OIL?
WHAT RIGHT TO THEY HAVE TO STAY ON THEIR SOIL?

WHAT CAN WE DO ABOUT BUSH AND BLAIR?
DO THEY GIVE A FUCK? NO - THEY DON'T CARE!
WHILE THEIR HOLED UP IN THEIR IVORY TOWER
THE REST OF US HAVE GOT NO FUCKING POWER

Chorus:

WE'RE ALL FUCKED
YES, WE'RE ALL FUCKED
WE'RE ALL FUCKED
YES, WE'RE ALL FUCKED

WAS IT JUST ABOUT OIL?, WE CAN'T BE SURE
WHAT ARE THE REAL MOTIVES? THERE HAS TO BE MORE!
THESE ECONOMIES SURVIVE ON THE SALES OF GUNS
AND THESE BASTARDS DON'T CARE IF THEY KILL OUR SONS!

HOW CAN WE FIGHT TO STOP ALL THIS SHIT?
THE SUICIDE BOMBERS ARE DOING THEIR BIT
BUT IN THE END THERE'S ONLY ONE SOLUTION
THERE HAS TO BE A FUCKING REVOLUTION!"

Now that, my friends, is what you call a direct song.

*UPDATE*

Hey, guess what? He sent me another song! They remind me of John Cooper Clark only not as arty farty!!

Anyway, this is his next offering. I may have to set up a song lyric page at this rate!

Maggies song

"I hope that one day the world can see
Just what this nasty bitch did to you and me
Her legacy, so bad, it's hard to believe
A situation which we can never retrieve

Who are these people who think she was great?
Are they the ones who just fed from her plate?
Oh yes, she looked after all the people with money
Like flies around shit they licked all the honey

Did you vote for Maggie?
You should be ashamed
Did you vote for Maggie?
So, you are to blame?

Do you remember we had North Sea Oil?
The sickening waste makes you wanna recoil!
She preached "We should look after Number One"
But fuck me just look at the damage she's done!

Privatation - who paid for all that?
We did - taxpayers - do you feel a prat?
Remember those adverts? What a con trick
The great British Public - Thick as a Brick!

Did you vote for Maggie?
You should be ashamed
Did you vote for Maggie?
So, you are to blame?

You gave her the power, you gave her your trust
But how did you feel when your business went bust?
Where was Maggie when you wanted your say?
Selling Cigarettes for another pay day!

Remember the Falklands - what was that for?
When you're in the shit - better start a war!
Fuck all the soldiers who wasted their lives
All that mattered was Maggie survived!

Did you vote for Maggie?
You should be ashamed
Did you vote for Maggie?
So, you are to blame?

Can you believe it the made her a Dame?
Can't anyone see that she is to blame?
This country is fucked and that's for sure
And the blame must fall firmly on her door<

So what should we do with this dear old cow?
Forgive her? I don't think so somehow!
For me there is a price that she should pay
Public execution - please give us that day!

Did you vote for Maggie?
You should be ashamed
Did you vote for Maggie?
So you are to blame?"

Another cracker, I think!

My new friend at Funjunkie (I think!), started a very interesting if not slightly hostile discussion on the merits of tea and coffee last week.
In fact, no, he said Coffee is for morons, so I think he prefers Tea!

What I want to know is, do you all prefer 2 or 4 wheels? Any thoughts guys and gals?
And, while we are at it, anyone prepared to give me a clue on the code for the comments people can leave? Looks awfully good fun!!

You know, I had such an underwhelming response to my request yesterday, that I am begging today - anyone.....please?

I don't know about anyone else, but I suddenly seem to be busy all over the place. Leaves me little time to Blog. However! I have a cunning plan!

If I install my FTPsoftware at work, I could Blog from my desk, great!!

Now you must admit, this is a step in the right direction! Shame it couldn't be the real thing in that pot, don't you think?

Note to myself - GET A BLOODY ARCHIVE PAGE YOU MORON!. Thank you Russ

Wednesday 22 October

Good day people. You know, I never knew how many people bother to check this page until I checked my stats last night. Hey guys - thanks for coming!!!
Course, that means I ought to be bothered to put some stuff up to make your visit worthwhile, so, here goes!

Now, first of all, I am jealous. Very jealous. Some long established Bloggers have some fancy whizz bang code stuff, that means people can post replies to their comments - and I want it - and I want it NOW!! - ok?

Look, I'm new to all this malarky but love it, so if some kind soul would like to drop me an e-mail and point me in the right direction, that would be ever so jolly, don't you think? Thank you.

Saturday 11 October

So, what's new in my world? Well, I was delighted to see yesterday, that Tim over at Bloggerheads has put a link from his site to my humble little spot, thanks Tim.Hope anyone reading this anew will keep coming back as I get into my stride.

My site is only very young and I only came across blogging about a month ago. Feel free to e-mail me with views and - oh - the next bit is about work, not a request re: critiscism!

Posted by BlogMan - 7.40 am

No chance of any blogging yesterday - bad, bad day. I like people to be constructive in critiscism, rather than - thats crap, that doesn't work and so on - sadly, one of my colleagues doesn't think the same. Still, thats life I guess but it still gets to me.

Those same people can say what they like but if you try the same back, they become overly aggresive and increasingly nasty, I'm sure you have all had such experiences. Not that I shy away from such fights, just that I don't see the need for them in the first place. Fuck 'em.

Posted by BlogMan - 7.35 am

I am a huge F1 fan and an even bigger Ferrari nut. Only issue really, is that the wrong Ferrari driver is at the top! Nevertheless, I am disappointed with the news from final qualifying this morning at Suzuka. Schumi qualified 14th!?!?!? Kimi Räikkönen, however, qualified 8th. Now you can overtake at Suzuka but come on, what the chuff is the red car laddie doing? Still, get the Stella on ice, I'm sure the drivers championship will be going to Maranello again. :)

UPDATE. Ah, now I understand Ferraris prob! The weather!! Seems final qualifying was a little damp!!

Posted by BlogMan - 7.50 am

I think I need an archive page!

Posted by BlogMan - 8.15 am

Just read this on Bloggerheads page about Napalm.

Now this raises lots of questions in my mind. Like, if the US have such weapons and will use them, why can't SH have 'em? If the US have WMD, why should we trust them? After all, they did just put Arnie in office!! How much firepower do they really have?

We have an American Base near us, The Menwith Hill listening station. Now, this base is shrouded in secrecy. Anyone working there cannot and must not tell you what they do. If it is just a listening station, why can't they? AND - how come the Americans can run the base on their own terms, without any intervention form the Brits? On our soil? Makes me puke it does.

Posted by BlogMan - 8.15 am

Now this is chilling. Who do you blame?

Posted by BlogMan - 8.25 am

Ha, ha, ha - I really despair sometimes. My colleagues at work laugh at me when I get going but someone has to say certain things. This article is interesting enough. Its the very last paragraph that amuses me though. John Mellencamps song "Pink House" seems to me, to be getting at America, yet these troops clearly think it is lamenting the fact that they are not there at the moment!! Sheesh. Is it me?

There comes a time when you put your hands in the air and say - oops, got this one wrong - I think.
However, Condoleezza Rice obviously hasn't been told this!

New evidence? Er, proof please? Never disarmed? Is she nuts? Having ambitions, it seems, now constitutes a world wide threat. I better get my bread and water rations ready then coz they'll be coming for me next. What a bunch of fucking morons.

Posted by BlogMan - 7.00 am

Understand that this may be linked in some way to the Leeds Utd "Lay By" incident................

Hey! Is this guy related to Arnie at all? Sure seems to enjoy his job................

Hey! This reminds me of England Too!! Tip from Blogman - DON'T DRIVE IN TURKEY!

Posted by BlogMan - 7.30 am

Not just in England either, seems that our "friends" over the pond have their fair share of troubles too.

OK, here is one which we all know about - how many of us do it though? Tsk, tsk, naughty naughty.

Posted by BlogMan - 7.20 am

Well, call me draconian if you wish, but do you think that four years is really enough? No, me neither.

Part of the problem seems to lie here, in the sentencing. Its the "maximum sentence" paragraph that upsets me most - should me much longer.

Posted by BlogMan - 7.20 am

I was made aware of this scam yesterday, thanks Jamie, so be warned!

Car Thieves Stealing Your Car:

It seems that car thieves have found another way to steal your car or van without any effort at all.

The car thieves peer through the windscreen of your car or truck, write down the VIN number from the label on the dash, go to the local car dealership and request a duplicate key based on the VIN number.

The car dealer's parts dept. will make a duplicate key from the VIN number and collect payment from the thief who will return to your car. He doesn't have to break in, do any damage to the vehicle, or draw attention to himself. All he has to do is to walk up to yourcar, insert the key and off he goes to a local chop shop with your vehicle.

You don't believe it? It is that easy.

To avoid this from happening to you, simply put some tape (electrical tape, duct tape or medical tape) across the VIN label located on the dash board.

By law, you cannot remove the VIN number, but you can cover it so it can't be viewed through the windscreen by a car thief. I urge you to forward this to your friends before some other car thief steals another car or van.

Well, guess what? Another virus on my desktop! I think I have blasted the little critter this time but does anyone else get these things too?

Posted by BlogMan - 7.10 am

Monday 6 October

Good day to all and welcome to a new week!

I have decided to "launch" my campaign this week, so here is a view of what it will be about.

What I have in mind, is harnessing the power of the internet and its users "en masse", to try and change government policy on roads and traffic behaviour.
For example, how many times have you travelled on a motorway and observed the following?

  Inside lane empty
Middle lane has a few cars
Outside lane has long line of "bumper to bumper" vehicles, all doing 70/75

Now a lot of drivers currently get around this problem, by driving down the inside and cutting back in. This is illegal, as well as being very dangerous.

So, how do we solve this problem?

  Build more roads?
  Put more lanes in?

No, that just tends to push vehicles into the outer two lanes, you've seen it yourself, I'm sure.
What we need to do, is educate people how to drive safely and correctly (and curteously too, come to that) on our roads and motorways.

So, a campaign is needed, to tell people to "GET PAST - GET IN" - or something similar. In other words to use the lanes properly!

Additionally, the police need to concentrate more resources on policing how we drive, instead of just taking the easy money spinning route of nabbing people for speeding.

I think such a campaign would free up a lot of our roads, simply by using the available space more efficiently. So, there you have it. Any takers?

Saturday 4 October

So, did my day get better yesterday? Suprising no one with the answer - no - let me explain why (briefly).

My Broadband connection is now working fine (fingers crossed everybody), so, at least I can "play".

However, yesterday at the office, I suffered a couple of further bouts of "gotcha" from the f..k up fairies.

Firstly - and this is the worst - my bacon and egg sarnie never arrived, despite parting with cash and someone going for it - serious stuff this.

Then I lost my jacket, with my car keys in it. It turned up in the laides loo. AND, before you think it - NO - I had not been loitering in there!!

Anyway, whilst looking for said jacket, my fist accidentally rammed into a filing cabinet drawer, bending it - still works mind.

THEN, on the way home my car radio packs up! A 3 month old german car and the bloody radio packs up - sheesh!

By the time I got home, kids to bed, wish wife a good night out on the town, I was good for nothing.

Lets hope Saturday is a little better!

Friday 3 October

Over at Bloggerheads, Tim Ireland is starting or, more correctly, trying to start and steer a campaign to right wrongs by Blogging with a passive resistance movement, excellent stuff, but he needs a name, so any suggestions? If so, drop a note to Tim.

You know how sometimes, you feel like the machinery is getting at you and having a laugh? Well, in the last two weeks, I have had two nasty virus's on my two desktop machines at home, as well as my laptop. Additionally, my printer ceased to work, despite my best attempts to rectify this (which included some very technical shouting and threatened actual physical abuse - both to no avail, by the way), I only got it working last night.

However, my scanner, refuses to work - still.

Buggar me, then last night, I settle down for a night's fun at the newly restored PC and guess what - my broadband line was down all night!! I am, therefore, a little pissed off at present!

Posted by BlogMan - 6.45am

Thursday 2 October

Anybody who reads this page (is there anyone who actually does, I wonder?), should go immediately to to sign up for Tim Irelands campaign - come on chaps - stand up and be counted!!!

Only in America could this happen. Can somebody tell them about the maxim "Horses for courses" please?

Posted by BlogMan - 7.20 am

Well, I guess this is a start! I actually have a lot of mixed feelings about this topic. On the one hand, such people are obviously in need and yet they alienate themselves from society by doing what they do.
